Naomi Osaka unveiled a new liminteid edition model fo TAG Heuer's Aquaracer watch but she wan'ts allowed to wear it in Melbourne.
If you wonder why Osaka wasn't allowed to wear the latest watch during her Australian Open matches, it's because the Aquaracer falls under the category of communication devices. Players are not allowed to communicate with others off the court during their matches so that's why the Australian Open organizers didn't let Osaka take the court with the newest Tag Heuer watch.
TAG Heuer CEO Frederic Arnault said:
“We tried, but she cannot wear any connected watch while playing professionally, because players aren’t allowed to communicate with others off the court during a match. And this would be considered a communication device."
