The tennis ace will be made into a comic book character in a manga style which will run in a Japanese magazine aimed at teenage girls.
"Unrivalled Naomi Tenka-ichi", which will run in Nakayosi magazine from late December, was produced with the help of the 23-year-old's older sister, Mari. "Tenka-ichi" means "the world No. 1" in Japanese. Regarding the news she said:
"Growing up reading manga/watching anime was something that bonded me and my sister immensely so this is really exciting for both of us.
It is not something very common in the tennis world but it might be a good thing. Osaka proud herself on her Japanese heritage and of being a role model for younger girls so this is something important to her. The popularity of manga styled comic books in Japan is immense and it's popularity even goes beyond the borders of Japan.
