Martina Navratilova thinks a lot of players could do some damage during the clay season naming
Jelena Ostapenko,
Paula Badosa and
Martina Trevisan as the most likely candidates.
Clay tennis can be somewhat of a crazy ride as many things can happen. It's not that uncommon to see a player catch fire and create some deep runs out of nowhere. We've seen plenty of surprises on the surface in the past and while players like Swiatek, Jabeur and Sabalenka are all good bets for some good results, Martina Navratilova named a few other players that could do some damage as well.
Speaking about it she said:
“I mean, you could have 15 different women win at Roland Garros this
year. Twice as many could do some damage in Madrid
and Rome, too.”
On Trevisan, Navratilova said:
“She’ll hurt you when you’re not playing your best tennis."
On Ostapenko she added:
“You know what happened a few years ago. It could happen again -- you never know with her.”
On Potapova:
“She’s got a big game, big upset potential. I like her feistiness. She’s a fighter.”
On Badosa, Navratilova added:
“I think she has it in her. To post some solid clay results.”
