Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya and Britain’s Katie Boulter looked back fondly over the memories of spending time together during the US Open as a doubles pair. The two participated in the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year as a pair. Still, their journey was short-lived as they were knocked out of the competition after losing in the second round to the pair of Brazil’s Luisa Stefani and Netherlands’ Demi Schuurs with a score of 7-6, 7-6.
Kalinskaya recently posted a picture on the social media platform Instagram where she vowed to ‘come back stronger’ next year. "NYC 🍎 thank you for the experience 🤓 next time I come back stronger," she wrote in the caption. In response to that, Boulter commented that she has never ‘laughed’ so much in her life. "Never laughed so much in my life 😂," she commented.
Both players also took part in the singles category in the US Open. Kalinskaya lost in the third round to Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-1. On the other hand, Boulter was knocked out after losing in the second round to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 7-5.
Individually, both players are going through a mixed campaign. Kalinskaya first lost in the final of the Dubai Open to Italy’s Jasmine Paolini with a score of 4-6, 7-5, 7-5. She then lost in the final of the Berlin Open to America’s Jessica Pegula with a score of 6-7, 6-4, 7-6. On the other hand, Boulter’s best appearance this season came in the San Diego Open where she lifted the title after beating Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk with a score of 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. She then went on to win the Nottingham Open as well, this time after beating the Czech Republic’s Karolina Pliskova with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
