Estonia’s former tennis star Anett Kontaveit has stated that she has no plans to returning to playing tennis becoming a part of the sport anytime soon.
The 28-year-old announced surprise retirement in 2023 despite ageing just 27 at that time to focus on her education. On the social media platform Instagram, a user asked her whether she would be interested in returning to coaching in tennis. "Are you going to work as a tennis coach or something like that?" a fan asked.

In response to that, Kontaveit wrote that she has no such plans: "Not planning to at the moment. Still finishing my uni and then I'll see what comes next.”
Kontaveit, in a recent interview with WTA insider stated that she is planning to continue her studies. "I'm studying psychology at Indiana University, so I'm going to do that. I'll take more classes, so I'll have more to do. Hopefully I'll go on some spontaneous trips. I have to find friends who are not working. It's very difficult," she said.
Kontaveit ended her career after winning six WTA titles. She also became the world number two in June 2022. Her best outing in a Grand Slam was playing in the quarterfinal of the Australian Open in 2020 where she lost to the former world number one Romania’s Simona Halep with a score of 6-1, 6-1.
