Following her, Thursday match at the
Charleston Open Ons Jabeur expressed her opinion on
Jessica Pegula's suggestion to include trash talk in tennis during the post-match interview.
During the third round of the 2023 Charleston Open, the second seed, Jabeur, faced off against American wildcard Caroline Dolehide. Despite facing break points in both sets, Jabeur managed to come back and secure a straight-set 6-3, 7-5 victory. During an interview with the Tennis Channel after, Jabeur shared her thoughts on the trash-talking debate:
"Oh, I'm there! I'm the best at it, you know."
She clarified that in the end she can't keep it up long enough and ends up just being nice:
But after, I apologoize and hug the other, you know. I don't last for long. You know, they don't know if it's true or not."
Jabeur, last year's finalist, is scheduled to play against Russian player Anna Kalinskaya in the next round. Jabeur has been performing well so far, winning both her previous matches against Lesia Tsurenko and Caroline Dolehide without dropping a set.
