Emma Raducanu won the
US Open breaking a few records in the process and fellow US Open champion Dominic Thiem believes it's one of the greatest achievements in women's sports.
Praise for Emma Raducanu and what she has been able to do at the 2021 US Open has come from everywhere but for Dominic Thiem, it's something even more special. The ATP start knowns how hard it is to win the US Open and he hailed this success as one of the greatest in women's sports. He said:
"For me, it’s one of the greatest achievements ever in women’s sports. It’s an incredible journey if you look at the stats. She didn’t lose one set the whole tournament. She came from qualifying and she didn’t even play
one tiebreak."
Put into perspective as Thiem did makes it looks unbelievable and it really was one of the most dominant showings at a Grand Slam in the past few years. It's very close to Iga Swiatek's run at the Roland Garros which was even more dominant. Thiem continued by saying:
“That’s simply amazing and something that probably was never witnessed before. And
also, the way she plays, her technique, the way she moves, somehow she
brought it up to a new level for the whole game … it was great to see.”
