Ons Jabeur is officially out of the
Canadian Open which is due to take place between Friday August 4 - Sunday 13 August, 2023.
Jabeur heartbreakingly lost out in the final of Wimbledon mere weeks ago to Marketa Vondrousova albeit with no signs of injury.
But she had knee surgery earlier this year saying back in March that she was only back to 80%.
She then had further injury struggles heading into the clay court season, but bounced back after having to retire from a match in Stuttgart.
But now she will miss the start of the run up to the US Open. It is unknown whether this will affect Cincinnati or whether it is merely precaution.
“I feel sad that I have to withdraw from the National Bank Open in Montreal,” said Jabeur. “I hope to come back to my fans next year in Canada. Lots of love!”
“We are obviously disappointed that Ons (Jabeur) will not be joining us this year. She is an exceptionally talented player, who is highly appreciated not only by fans but also by the entire tennis community,” said Valérie Tétreault, Tournament Director of the Canadian Open.
“On the other hand, we still have an extremely strong player field with 19 of the Top 20 players in the world. Fans can therefore expect an unforgettable experience during their visit to IGA Stadium.”
