Defending champion
Naomi Osaka kicked off her 2021
US Open campaign on Monday night, cruising past
Marie Bouzkova to secure her spot in the second round.
The World No.3 put on a clinical display to pull off the 6-4 6-1 victory, firing an incredible 34 winners past her Czech opponent. Furthermore, she won 25 of 31 points behind her first serve, denying Bouzkova any hopes of obtaining a break.

With the first set in her bag, Osaka took control of the second set, racing to a 5-0 lead. Bouzkova was able to salvage a game, but it was merely a formality as the third seed closed out proceedings under the lights of Arthur Ashe stadium.
