After Angelique Kerber won at the Bad Homburg Open, another former Grand Slam champion wasn't too far behind over at Eastbourne in
Jelena Ostapenko.
Ostapenko, the former Roland Garros champion has staked her claim for a contender spot at Wimbledon after seeing off Anett Kontaveit in the final of the
Eastbourne International at Devonshire Park.
The Latvian did it with ease seeing off Kontaveit 6-3, 6-3 to win her fourth title and her first since 2019 Luxembourg.
Only receiving a late wildcard into a stacked field which turned into an unseeded affair, she won over 78% of her first serve points and hit no double faults for the second match in a row.
Winners wise, it was 24 to Kontaveit's 17 as she dominated from start to finish to become the third wildcard to take home the title and the first in 21 years.
