On Friday, fans in Italy will witness quarterfinal matches at the Palermo Ladies Open with the schedule of play featuring three seeded and three Italian players.
Fans in Palermo will see a lot of action also on Friday. There are still three Italian players in the draw at the
Palermo Ladies Open but there is also the first-seeded
Petra Martic who is the biggest favorite for the victory as we know the full Friday's schedule of play.
And it will be the aforementioned Martic who will kick-off the action in Palermo on Friday. The Croatian will face
Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the quarterfinal. The two met 4 times on the circuit with Martic winning 3 of the matches. Last time, she triumphed in Budapest back in 2018. Martic won the only match played on the claycourt back in 2014 and so she is the favorite to win also this match.
On the other hand,
Anett Kontaveit and Elisabetta Cocciaretto who will play the second quarterfinal match will meet for the first time. The Italian wild-card is having great results in Palermo and will be trying to stay in the great form also against Kontaveit.
The only French player left in the draw,
Fiona Ferro will meet a difficult opponent in the quarterfinal. The Italian 5-time doubles Grand Slam champion,
Sara Errani is in a great form and she will want to play the semifinals in Italy. Ferro defeated the Italian on the claycourt in Rabat last year, but with an advantage of the home soil, Errani will have a big chance to win this quarterfinal match.
Once again,
Dayana Yastremska will play the last match of the day. This time, she will take on the third Italian in the draw,
Camila Giorgi. The head-to-head record is drawn at 1-1, however, Giorgi triumphed on the claycourt in Strasbourg, while Yastremska defeated her opponent on the grass in All-England Club.
