Paula Badosa continued her
Miami Open onslaught with another strong performance taking down
Yulia Putintseva 6-3 6-2.
Both Badosa and Putintseva enjoy playing on clay so the conditions in Miami are certainly up to their taste. Both can attack from the baseline and both have precise groundstrokes. Early on in this match, it was all on display as neither player was able to carve out a single break point. Badosa upped her level a little bit and that immediately gave results.
She broke Putintseva at 3-3 to make it 4-3 and give herself a 5-3 lead. She broke her once more to finish off the opening set with 6-3. It was a superb result for Badosa as she struggled with her serve but from the baseline she was excellent. Putitnseva was doomed by her 2nd serve as she only won 2/14 points.
The 2nd set with a break in the first game as Putitnseva finally found a breakthrough. It was a bad game by Badosa but she did not lose her cool and broke back immediately after that. She faced 15-40 on her serve in the next game but held. It proved crucial for the match as she broke her opponent once more in the next game to take a 4-1 lead.
From there it was mostly cruise control and the Spaniard secured a spot in the 4th round of the Miami Open Masters.
