Paula Badosa opened her Roland Garros campaign in sensational fashion destroying native Fiona Ferro in two simple sets 6-2 6-0.
The Spaniard opened the match with an early break and it set the tone for the match. Ferro is a solid player but she has been struggling with her form for a very long time now. Even on the ITF tour, she struggled to win matches so her easy defeat is no wonder. For Badosa it was the perfect beginning to her French Open campaign.
She declared she was ready to win it prior to the event and who can doubt her after such a performance. After taking an early break, Badosa mainly focused on keeping her serve and she was able to do so by winning over 90 % of the points coming after her first serve. She added another break and close out the set 6-2. Both players were looking to shorten the points but Ferro committed far more mistakes.
The 2nd set was utter domination by Badosa in every facet of the game. She won all six games played, she hit 12 winners to only one error while her opponent committed 9 unforced errors without any winners. 55 minutes in total it took to ease into round one and she will be happy about it.
