Spain’s
Paula Badosa is set to join her national team Billie
Jean King Cup Finals, according to a recent report. The tournament is set to begin on November 07.
The 25-year-old has not featured in any professional tennis
for quite some time as she continues her recovery from an injury sustained earlier
this year.
However, according to Spanish daily Marca, Badosa is set to join
the national team which will be a big boost for the side.
Because of the fitness concern, the Manhattan-born has appeared
in just one out of the four Grand Slams this year.
While playing at Wimbledon, Badosa’s journey was cut short
as she was forced to retire in the second-round match against Ukraine’s Marta
Olehivna Kostyuk.
If the news becomes a reality, it will be a major boost for Badosa
and her fans who have been waiting to see the best of her on the court for a long
time.
The former world number two will be also hoping that she can
regain her fitness and form which can help her win the maiden Grand Slam
title.
As of now, Badosa’s
best appearance in a major event came in 2021 when she was knocked out of the French
Open after losing the quarterfinal to Tamara Zidansek of Czech Republic with a
score of 7-5, 4-6, 8-6.
