Disappointing return of
Paula Badosa in Adelaide. The Spanish tennis player returned to the courts after a long absence (she had not played since Wimbledon) and has not been able to get past the first round of the Adelaide Tournament after seeing how the North American Bernarda Pera came back and eliminated her (3-6/6-2/6-3). This will mean that the New York-born player will not be able to reach the Australian Open.
Paula started the match very well, being aggressive in the rest taking her serves forward, which earned her the first set. In the second set, Pera reacted to a Badosa who began to falter with his serve, something that would accompany him until the end of the clash. In the third and final set Paula started 3-1 up after getting a break, but completely fell apart in the final stretch, gave up five consecutive games and said goodbye to the
Adelaide International.
Considering that she had not played since Wimbledon, it can not be said that it was a bad performance by Paula Badosa, but having had the match in her hands and having looked good physically, it is a pity that she could not overcome her rival (69th in the world) and thus get a little more background for the Australian Open that will start next Sunday;
