Paula Badosa is playing her first Rome Masters and the Spaniard got off to a winning start against Sasnovich 6-2 6-1.
It was a relatively easy match for Badosa who looked much better in Rome than in Madrid. The Spaniard generally tends to do well on clay but she simply caved under the pressure in Madrid. She spoke openly about it before the event so her early exit was kind of explainable. In Rome, against a tricky opponent,t Badosa looked much better.
Sasnovich can play aggressively but she was no match for Badosa who asserted herself as the more aggressive player early on in the match. She cruised to a 6-2 finish in the opening set dominating from the baseline with her powerful groundstrokes. Sasnovich simply could not find a way to counter Badosa who attacked from the return and it never stopped.
Her relentless play continued in the second set as well as she once again dominated from the line. Sasnovich served a bit better and it helped but for the most part, Badosa controlled the rallies with ease. She was even more dominant on her own serve as well finishing it off with 6-1 in the 2nd set.
