World No.3
Jessica Pegula may have been ousted from
Roland Garros (French Open) but the American is not done raising awareness regarding unequal treatment at the event.
Pegula has been vocal about the lack of women's matches at night sessions during combined ATP & WTA tournaments, and believes the organizers of the
French Open have not done much to address the issue.
“I'm on WTA players' council & this issue has been raised a lot," revealed Pegula. "Last year there was 1 women's night match. We spoke to organizers about it. That makes this year more disappointing because we tried to address it. We haven't seen improvement.”
Perhaps with continued pressure from the WTA players' council and fan participation, mixed tournaments will begin to feature more women's matches at night.
