Former top 10 player, Andrea Petkovic has returned to the winners' circle at Cluj-Napoca easing past Mayar Sherif in the final of Winners' Open Romania.
It is a seventh career title for the former French Open semi-finalist and Australian and US Open Quarter-Finalist but the first in six years.
All the attention was on Sherif due to becoming the first Egyptian to reach a WTA final but it was the experience of Petkovic that told as she breezed through 6-1, 6-1.
This with 92% winning percentage on 2nd serve with 74% on her 1st serve, she also converted 5/10 break point opportunities with not one chance going the way of Sherif.
It is her first career title since Antwerp in 2015 after returning to the top 100 this year and reaching two finals on the clay with the Hamburg European Open also reached where she lost to surprise package, Elena-Gabriela Ruse.
This was added to with a semi-final in Belgrade before this run as she looks to peak again at the right time before the US Open.
