Day Four of the Cymbiotika Guadalajara Open AKRON gets underway today, Wednesday, September 20, with Ons Jabeur and Maria Sakkari among those taking to the court. Here is our preview of the day at the WTA 1000 event.

Top seed Jabeur will close out the day on the court in the Estadio Akron de Tenis, where she will face Italian player Martina Trevisan. The World No. 7 has a 1-0 lead over the World No. 54 in their head-to-head, having defeated her in straight sets at the 2021 Charleston Open. This will be their first meeting on hard courts.

Jabeur dominated her match against Alycia Parks in the Round of 32, ousting the American player 6-2, 6-2. Meanwhile, Trevisan moved past Demi Schuurs 6-2, 6-0 in the Round of 64 before defeating her compatriot Jasmine Paolini in the second round 7-5, 6-2.

Starting out the day on the main court is third seed Caroline Garcia who will face Hailey Baptiste. The American currently leads their head-to-head 1-0, having beaten Garcia at the 2022 Australian Open. Baptiste defeated sixteenth seed Karolina Pliskova in a close-knit battle in the second round while Garcia ousted Aliaksandra Sasnovich in three sets.

Second seed Sakkari will take on Camila Giorgi. The Italian defeated fourteenth seed Mayar Sherif in her first round with a straight-sets win before dominating her match against Cristina Bucsa, winning 6-1, 6-2.

Meanwhile, Sakkari moved past Storm Hunter 6-2, 6-4. The Greek player leads 2-0 in their head-to-head and has only dropped four games across two straight-set victories against Giorgi.

Sofia Kenin will also feature today, taking to the court against sixth seed Jelena Ostapenko. The Latvian has a narrow lead of 2-1 in their head-to-head, winning their clash at the 2022 Dubai Tennis Championships in straight sets.

Ostapenko had a deep run at the US Open earlier this month, achieving the incredible feat of defeating top seed Iga Swiatek in the Round of 16 and going on to make the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Kenin made the final of the San Diego Open last week, where she finished as runner-up to Barbora Krejcikova.

Veronika Kudermetova and Victoria Azarenka will also play against each other today, while eighth seed Ekaterina Alexandrova takes on Caroline Dolehide.
