Prices skyrocket 300% for Serena Williams' Monday night match at US Open as retirement looms

Serena Williams will face Danka Kovinic on Monday night (00:00 BST) at the US Open in what could feasibly be her final match as retirement looms for the 23-time Grand Slam champion.

This though has led to secondary market prices changing accordingly, as per TicketIQ, the prices have moved up 300% for the session since it was announced that she would be retiring.

As a result also, it has changed the secondary market average list price overall for the US Open as per the graph below with ticket prices for any tickets going up $440 from a low of $304 initially.

For tonight's session, an average market list price ticket to see Serena is $987 which is the most expensive opening round session ticket ever at the US Open as per the tracking done by TicketIQ.

In addition, this has also impacted not only general ticket averages but also for the Women's final seeing the largest increase since 2019 when Serena made the final where it was $940.

At the current time without the tournament even starting yet, it sits at $1,074. Truly astonishing statistics showing the want to see the tennis legend before she retires.
