The
Bad Homburg Open, a grass court tournament, has been upgraded to WTA 500 status for the year. This also means that the tournament has been included in the highest German category in professional tennis.
Accordingly, the
prize money has almost tripled compared to previous events, as Radio FFH reports. While $259,303 was still available in the pool for the 2023 edition, $923,000 has been budgeted for the 2024 event. This also fulfills the requirements of the Equal Prize Money approach, the equalization of prize money for men's and women's tournaments.
The Bad Homburg Open tournament, which takes place in the summer, will feature a top-class field of participants, the likes of which have never been seen before. Various world-class players and Grand Slam champions are expected, with the exact starting list to be announced around six weeks before the start.
Angelique Kerber, who is also the tournament ambassador, announced her participation months ago.
