I enjoyed it here @abnamroopen . Exit definitely too early but not a bad match today and credit to my opponent . I will go back to work and level up on the areas I need to improve . Thanks for support 🇳🇱
Holger Rune suffered another shock loss. This time at the Rotterdam Open against Alexander Shevchenko as he adapts to life after Boris Becker and Severin Luthi with only Kenneth Carlsen remaining in his team.
The same can be said for his press engagements and management with his mother Aneke Rune still a presence, but now he is managed by IMG instead of his mother doing everything and this extends to tournaments too with Holger saying that she will be at some tournaments but not all. The 20-year-old is looking to strike a healthy balance, but he still maintains a constant contact with her.
“It’s a bit random. She’s going to be there at some tournaments and not be there (at others). She is still on the phone a lot, and we talk both before games and after games. So she is a huge part of my team and I love having her by my side.” Said Rune. “It’s different, of course, but I think it’s healthy that we run some tournaments together, and some we don’t.” He added.
Speaking on that loss, he said he takes positives from it despite losing in the second round and sees the work building up despite being dumped out of a tournament again. Next is the Los Cabos Open for Rune.
“I think it was a bit of an up-and-down match. I found a good level in the second set that I feel I can build on.” He said following his loss to Shevchenko. “We started working really well this week again. So I think that Brisbane has been a good week, and I think that this has been a really good week, even if you can’t see it from the result.”
