Starting off proceedings is Yafan Wang against Marie Bouzkova, as the eighth and ninth seed begin the Schedule of Play on the Estadio GNP Seguros main court.
Wang had a poor start to the season but has started winning again in Monterrey defeating Astra Sharma in three sets to reach the Quarter-Finals. Bouzkova comfortably beat Anna Karolina Scmiedlova on the other hand and despite a 1-0 lead in Head to Head for the Chinese ace, it could go either way.
Then it is the turn of Konta who yesterday defeated Tatjana Maria to follow up her first victory over Kim Clijsters and now the Briton finally seems to be finding some winning form which no matter what will stand her in good stead after a torrid spell since the US Open.
She will take on Anastasia Potapova who on the other hand saved three match darts to beat Tamara Zidansek which means that if it goes to the wall this time around, she may have the fight to trouble Konta but it could be another victory for the second seed with her aggressive style likely to overpower Potapova.
Flanked in between Svitolina and Konta is Arantxa Rus and Rebecca Peterson. The former claimed a very impressive victory over Lauren Davis in straight sets including a bagel in the second set so is playing well.
The Swedish sixth seed though won her first two matches of the season this week and like Konta now has confidence and so could be into the semi-finals.
Then it is the match of the day between Acapulco finalist Leylah Fernandez and Elina Svitolina. The former saw off Sloane Stephens to reach this point in brilliant fashion while the latter played well against Olga Govortsova. A tie between a player in supreme form and one that is gaining form but for the former it could be a bridge too far.
