Queen of Zhengzhou Open: Home hero Qinwen Zheng defeats Barbora Krejcikova to seal second title of 2023

Qinwen Zheng has continued her incredible year with a second WTA career title at the Zhengzhou Open on Sunday afternoon coming from a set down to win 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 over Barbora Krejcikova.
In their first career meeting, Zheng took it in two hours and 26 minutes over the World No.18 and seals a second not only of the year but of her fledgling career so far as well as striking gold for China at the Asian Games recently.
In a turbulent month also which saw coach, Wim Fissette ditch the 21-year-old mid contract to return to Naomi Osaka amid reaching the Quarter-Finals of a Grand Slam for the first time at the US Open.
But she has settled down to the task in hand this week in Zhengzhou and becomes the third Chinese woman to win a WTA 500 title or above alongside Li Na and Zheng Saisai and adds to her title earlier this summer in Palermo. It also marks the first time three Chinese women have won a title in the same season.
Zhu Lin and Wang Xiyu have also sealed titles in a golden age for the country who also have Zhizhen Zhang in ATP who is making constant strides and also Juncheng Shang.
During this tie, Queenwen broke in all three sets to start the tie. Krejcikova rebounded successfully, but Zheng showed excellence in particular in the second smashing through without facing a break point.
In the decider, it was close until 3-3 in which a double fault from Krejcikova started to spell the ending and Zheng moved towards the finish with a powerful unreturnable serve to seal it in front of a delighted crowd.
