Leylah Fernandez has ended a title drought of over a year with victory at the 2023 Hong Kong Open defeating Katerina Siniakova in three sets on Sunday afternoon.
Fernandez a former US Open finalist hasn’t sealed a title in over 500 days with her last coming at the 2022 Monterrey Open.
But after green shoots of form in recent months, Fernandez will look to hammer home a return towards the top in 2024. It was a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win for the Canadian.
She will also be one of the big ranking winners tomorrow with a return to the top 50. Also she will continue in action next week with the Jiangxi Open seeing her as one of the top seeds.
