Emma Raducanu was away from tennis for a while after winning the US Open in order to rest up and get ready for what comes next. Well, that next has arrived with WTA Indian Wells even starting today and Raducanu will play for the first time since the US Open here. Speaking on that ahead of the event she said:
"Yeah, I'm ready for the next challenge. I had such a great time in New York and an amazing experience. It started to sink in gradually, but I think I still will need time for it to fully sink in. But yeah, it's a great place here and I can't wait to get started."
Raducanu also spoke about her success at the US Open as she had time to digest it explaining that the form displayed at Flushing Meadows was a product of a lot of work and gradual build-up with weeks of tennis played before the event:
"I think the form that I had in New York was a gradual build-up of so many weeks of tennis, and I think that definitely helped that playing a lot of matches. But yeah, we'll see what the future holds."
She was careful not to put high expectations on herself especially since she is returning after not playing for a few weeks now. She will also be playing without her coach and that is another adjustment she will have to make.
