Eva Lys continues to impress and in one of her best years so far on the WTA Tour, she reached the semi-final of the Transylvania Open losing to Tamara Korpatsch.
But despite the elation of reaching a maiden tour semi-final, Lys also suffered dismay at dozens of messages with abuse and even death threats.
Some criticised her playing style, appearance, results and her race and made threats to life. She posted an array of messages on her X account which she also shared on her Instagram story.
"Next time just don't show up clown", "this girl is f**king sh*t", "I hope you will d*e", "You ugly pathetic F**kin c**t loser", "Go to h*ll asian sh*t", and "Never play tennis" were among the messages.
Sharing the abuse, she simply put: "Reality of a tennis player, abuse is never okay." In losing out, it will now be Korpatsch playing for German hopes against home hope Elena-Gabriela Ruse on Sunday afternoon.
But as of late with many WTA players in particular sharing this kind of abuse, it unearths a bigger problem with betting usually bringing this about and people losing money.
