Tennis coach Rick Macci has made an interesting revelation
regarding the Williams sisters. Both Serena and Venus dominated the world of women’s
tennis in the singles category over a long period of time.
Macci, who worked with Serena as a coach, in a post on his official
account on social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — stated an
interesting fact as he revealed that Venus never lost to her youngster sister
during practice matches.
“@Venuseswilliams never lost to Serena in practice. Vee was
undefeated against the little Compton Pitbull. From 1991 to 1995 Richard
Refused to have them ever play each other as he said they would play each other
30 times on the tour. He was wrong. They played 31. 19 TO 12 Goat,” he wrote.
The statement was an interesting one as Serena had a far superior
record on the court in professional tennis while facing her elder sister where
she won on 19 occasions in 31 meetings and suffered just 12 defeats.
Serena is often regarded as the greatest player in the history
of women’s tennis in the singles category, having won as many as 23 Grand Slam
titles in her illustrious career.
Venus, who is still
playing the sport at the highest level, on the other hand, also has an
impressive record in professional tennis where she lifted the major titles
seven times.
