Elena Rybakina
had no problems defeating local player
Katie Boulter and advanced to the fourth
round at the 2023
Wimbledon by 6-1, 6-1.
The Kazakh
showed Boulter the exit door in less than an hour of play and secured her spot
in the third Grand Slam of the year.
Rybakina had no trouble defeating a player
who is experiencing one of the best moments of her career after winning her
first WTA 250 title on the grass of the Nottingham Open two weeks ago, although
she couldn't maintain the same level in her two tournaments leading up to
Wimbledon, losing in the first round.
The British
player advanced through the first two rounds by defeating Daria Gavrilova and
Viktoriya Tomova, while the defending champion overcame Shelby Rogers and Alize
Cornet to set up a meeting with Boulter.
Ranked No.
3 in the world, Rybakina swept past the British player in just 58 minutes
without facing any break points against her. The Kazakh only dropped three
points on her serve during the first set and excelled in her return game,
winning 52% of the reception points. Boulter had little answer to Rybakina's
powerful forehand, as the Kazakh hit 11 winners and made 7 unforced errors.
In the
second set, Rybakina continued to dominate her opponent, securing an early
break in the first game and building a lead that Boulter couldn't counter.
Rybakina achieved three breaks of serve and capitalized on her second match
point to book her ticket to the fourth round.
