Kazakhstan’s
Elena Rybakina has taken some time off after her
untimely exit from
Wimbledon 2023.
The 24-year-old suffered a defeat in the quarterfinal of the
third Grand Slam of the year against her last year’s final opponent Tunisia’s Ons
Jabeur with a score of 6-7, 6-4, 6-1.
Despite that defeat, pictures on social media emerged
where Rybakina can been enjoying her holidays.
Rybakina’s defeat was a slightly surprising one, considering
she was defending her title which she won against Jabeur with a score of 3–6,
6–2, 6–2.
Other than her achievement in London, the Moscow-born has
also played in the final of the Australian Open earlier this year where she
came second best against Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 4–6, 6–3, 6–4.
However, despite her achievements in Wimbledon and Australian
Open, her record in the other two Grand Slams remains pretty average.
In the French Open, her best outing was a spot in the quarterfinal
which she achieved in the year 2021. She ended up suffering a defeat against Russia’s
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova with a score of 7-6, 6-2, 7-9.
US Open remains the only competition where Rybakina has
never played beyond the third. She played in the round of 32 in the US Open in 2021
and suffered a defeat against Romania’s Simona Halep with a score of 7-6, 4-7,
6-3.
