Aryna Sabalenka has been seen training in the sweltering heat of Florida as she prepares for the upcoming US Open Series swing.
The Belarusian player reached the semifinals of Wimbledon, narrowly missing the chance to claim the world No. 1 ranking. If she had made it to the final, she would have surpassed Swiatek, who was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Nonetheless, Sabalenka remains close to Swiatek in the WTA rankings, and with strong performances in the upcoming WTA 1000 Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open, she has the opportunity to surpass the Polish player.
Currently, as the world No. 2, she is training in Florida, where she resides, at the Evert Academy of Grandview Preparatory School. Despite the challenging weather conditions with a severe heatwave in the region, Sabalenka is dedicated to her training and posted some pictures on her social media, showcasing the tough conditions she is enduring in the North American city.
"Help us," Sabalenka wrote on Instagram.
"Every day routine," the Belarusian captioned her Instagram post.
In 2023, Aryna Sabalenka has earned more ranking points than any other female tennis player in the world. She currently leads the WTA Race to the Finals with a 500-point advantage over Swiatek.
With three titles this year, she triumphed at the Adelaide International Open, Madrid Open, and secured her first Grand Slam victory at the Australian Open. Additionally, she reached the final at Indian Wells, the semifinals at the French Open and Wimbledon, and the quarterfinals at the Stuttgart Open.
Notably, Sabalenka boasts an impressive 17-2 record in Grand Slam tournaments this season.
In the coming weeks, Sabalenka will compete at the US Open, where she is defending 720 points after reaching the semifinals last year and losing to Iga Swiatek. The world No. 1, who holds the title, will be defending 2000 points, making the top spot in the rankings up for grabs.
Before the US Open, Sabalenka will participate in the Canadian Open, where she reached the round of 16 in 2022 but was defeated by Coco Gauff.
