Aryna Sabalenka became the first player to successfully defend her title in the history of the Wuhan Open with the Belarusian holding off Alison Riske 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.

Sabalenka, who was No.9 seed in the event became the first player to win consecutive titles in the event but joins Petra Kvitova as a two-time champion.
It is also a third title in the country for her beating Riske for a second time in a final. Sabalenka got out of the blocks well winning five out of the first six games before sealing the opener 6-3.
It was a different story in the second with the World No.35, Riske taking the fight to the World No.14; she never faced a break point and broke serve in the sixth game to send the match to a deciding set.
Despite that, Sabalenka once again found another gear claiming the first five games of the set before sealing it with an 18th ace of the match.
