Kerber Wimbldon 2021
Aryna Sabalenka and Angelique Kerber are through to the Wimbledon semifinals after defeating Jabeur 6-4 6-3 and Muchova 6-2 6-3.
Aryna Sabalenka put forward another great match at Wimbledon by defeating Ons Jabeur in straight sets to move on to her first Grand Slam semifinal. It continued a great string of performances at Wimbledon with all of them coming against tough opponents. Against Jabeur she was fantastic outplaying her opponent in every face of the game.
The biggest difference in the match was the raw power Sabalenka posses which could not be matched by Ons. The Tunisian player tried many different approaches but every time she ran into a wall that Sabalenka who would always find a baseline winner. Had Jabeur not served as well as she did this would have been an even quicker match.
Joining her in the semifinal will be Angelique Keber who is enjoying her own sort of magical run at the event. Despite being considered a strong grass player and despite coming to London after winning a title on grass nobody expected Kerber to do so well. Her level is reminding people of her title run at Wimbledon a few years ago.
Today she played Muchova, a player whose game suite grass well and she completely outplayed her. She won the first set fairly easily as Muchova struggled to match Kerber from the baseline. She committed too many mistakes and that proved key. In the 2nd set, Muchova played better and even took a 2-1 lead against Kerber but the German won 4 games in a row to take a 4-2 lead before closing the match with 6-3.
