Sabalenka looks to make the impossible possible by passing Swiatek as World Number One: "It's my first priority, I really want it"

Aryna Sabalenka has one clear goal for the immediate future and it's to dethrone Iga Swiatek as the top player in the world but it will be very tough.

Swiatek currently has a sizeable lead over Sabalenka thanks to her amazing year last year but all of those points will need to be defended. It's possible that Swiatek managed to do that and even adds some more but it will be very hard. Sabalenka is playing really well right now and she wants to win trophies and become number one so she'll try her best to get it done.

She said:

“It’s my first priority, I would say. I really want it. She’s [Swiatek] doing really well, she’s moving better than anybody else, she’s tough and it’s going to be really tough, and that’s why I really want to achieve it. Because it seems like impossible, but I want to make it possible.”

She also shared what she told herself after becoming a grand slam champion:

“The message is that, ‘Yes, you’ve become a Grand Slam champion, that’s great, that’s really amazing and everyone is super happy, but it’s already gone. You have to keep working, you have to keep proving to yourself, to everyone, that you’re in the right place, and you have to keep working."
