Five years ago, Lucie Safarova produced one of her best weeks of her career getting to the final in the French Open singles before losing out to Serena Williams.

Safarova who has been retired since 2019 came through a tough run which included Maria Sharapova, Garbine Muguruza and Ana Ivanovic.
She also claimed one of many Grand Slam doubles titles with Bethanie Mattek-Sands which she also reflected on.
“I can’t believe it’s five years ago. It feels like last year. I’ve still got amazing memories. I’ve probably not had a better two weeks of my life on Tour,” Safarova, who retired to start a family in 2019, told WTA.
"Being in a Grand Slam final is a dream for every tennis player and to win the doubles final there with my partner in crime, Bethanie was amazing. Was also an exhausting two weeks."
"We had a lot of fun during that Paris year. Played great matches, started tough because I played my friend, Anastasia Pavlyunchenkova in the first round. It's never nice to play a friend. After that I felt amazing, started to play some of the best tennis of my life."
