An entire week of action at the Miami Open is complete and we head into the Last 32 for the ATP and the Last 16 for the WTA with the schedule now confirmed for Monday night.
As has been the case throughout the past few months, it is the WTA section of the draw which takes precedence in terms of stories. Alexander Zverev is the leading men's player involved today with only really the top seed and Novak Djokovic remaining.
In the WTA draw, many of the top names are involved on Monday including Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff as we look ahead to the next battles as we set the Quarter-Final line-up.
Alexander Zverev plays his second game of the Miami Open on Monday. He faces off against Jordan Thompson after taking down rising Brit Jacob Fearnley on Saturday.
Since then, it has been utter carnage and for all his poor form in recent months, it is in fact Zverev that remains standing. All four of the Indian Wells semi-finalists lost including Alcaraz, Draper and Rune.
Djokovic sealed his latest win last night so it is up to Zverev to keep the spark alive against the first of two Aussie's on Stadium on Monday trying to act as the cork in the bottle. That being Jordan Thompson and Alex de Minaur.
De Minaur will be favourite in his tie which is wedged between the top WTA stars but he faces Joao Fonseca. The rising Brazilian who is courting worldwide attention and huge droves of fans to his matches. Those wanting a glimpse of him booed after he shifted onto a different court minutes before he was due to play and after they'd waited hours.
But he handed them a treat as he dismantled Ugo Humbert. De Minaur awaits and he will hope to be one of two Aussie's winning on Monday. Albeit Zverev will hope after a poor Golden Swing and Indian Wells that it is finally his time to close in on World No.1.
Then it is the World No.1 and then the home hero as Aryna Sabalenka takes on Danielle Collins. It is the top WTA star vs the defending champion. Sabalenka has had it fairly simple taking down Elena-Gabriela Ruse who retired injured. But her Head to Head against Collins screams normal service.
She is 6-0 up on the American and most of their ties came last year when Collins was at her career best. This included wins in Madrid and Rome on the clay albeit both aren't Collins' favoured surfaces and also she had just returned after a few weeks off after winning Miami. But her wins mostly at the US Open stretch all the way back to 2018.

Coco Gauff follows who has had two games so far and took down two players with pedigree with relative ease.
Those being Sofia Kenin in that incredible double bagel before she defeated a familiar old foe in Maria Sakkari. Now it is Magda Linette who has played since the first round and saw off Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Linda Fruhvirtova to reach this point.
Gauff has won emphatically and at times has been inspiringly good but also like Swiatek she has a poor display in her and Linette does scream a potential giant killing as she has done so many times in the past. The local Florida native will aim to confound those expectations.
Then after Fonseca, it is onto Swiatek v Svitolina. This too could be an issue for Swiatek. The Ukrainian has had a superb start to the season. She reached the QF of the Australian Open and Indian Wells losing both times to the champion. She defeated Karolina Muchova 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 to reach the Last 16 for the fifth time in her career in Miami. Also she returns to the top 20 so everything is aligning.
Swiatek too only has a narrow Head to Head lead over Svitolina and sits at 2-1 up winning in Dubai last February 6-1, 6-4 but also Svitolina famously beat her at Wimbledon during her return season 7-5, 6-7, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals.
Now onto the outer court action including Emma Raducanu v Amanda Anisimova after both had markedly different ties in their wins on Sunday.
Both return mere 24 hours after their wins, less if you're Anisimova who battled through a blister which caused aggro all in itself against Mirra Andreeva. She snapped the streak and also snapped the potential that it could've been Raducanu v Andreeva.
Raducanu had already won earlier in the night seeing off McCartney Kessler who had to retire midway through their clash so after the epic win over Emma Navarro, it was more of a pedestrian nights work.
The Brit has a 1-0 Head to Head record against Anisimova winning at the Australian Open back in January. But while that is the case, their careers and also friendships do align in the past year.
Both returned at the same tournament in 2024 after breaks, Raducanu is still only World No.60 though while Anisimova mainly through runs in Canada last year and also Doha is heading towards the top 15. The American is high up in the race and despite middling results at times elsewhere is continually gaining traction.
But both are known to be friends off the court. They've spent time together through the rigours of WTA action and both are seemingly kindred spirits after having their own issues off the court. Raducanu of course through becoming US Open champion and the storm that very much engulfed her. While Anisimova rose at a young age and had to take time off tennis potentially not to return at one point in order to get herself right. Both have shown that their ceiling is still very high this week and they now get to duke it out.

E Raducanu d A Anisimova Australian Open - Round of 646-3 | 7-5 16 Jan 2025 |
That is third up on Butch Buchholz with Reilly Opelka v Tomas Machac and also Zheng Qinwen v Ashlyn Krueger next up following that.
Zheng has been finding form again while Ashlyn Krueger has proven to be a menace and could be a shock win again for the American who is one of the most in form this year win wise.
But back onto Grandstand with some intriguing ATP action as Taylor Fritz and Denis Shapovalov face off. Ironically with the Canadian having a phenomenal Head to Head record against him of 7-4. He won last in Dallas in February 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 and so Fritz could be the latest big seed to fall.
Arthur Fils faces Frances Tiafoe while Matteo Berrettini takes on Zizou Bergs before we get the Filipino star Alexandra Eala facing Paula Badosa. The Spaniard continues to battle valiantly against back issues but there will likely become a point where it either goes for a few matches or it is an issue that sees her go out.
She continues to face these rising upstarts too in Victoria Mboko in the first round, not so much rising but current star in Clara Tauson next followed by Eala who was long touted as a part of the Rafael Nadal Academy and hadn't done too much of note yet but is now in the position where she took down Madison Keys to further her already history making run. A Quarter-Final spot could beckon but Badosa is no pushover.
After Raducanu v Anisimova too on Butch Buchholz is Marta Kostyuk v Jessica Pegula in one of the top ties not to make it to the show courts. Kostyuk won against Anna Blinkova last night with a delightful underarm serve to clinch it. While Pegula battled against Anna Kalinskaya.
Kalinskaya has pushed Pegula to her limits three times but never won but it was a gruelling three setter for the American and she has to return albeit late to play likely another on Monday. Adam Walton v Coleman Wong and Roman Safiullin v Jakub Mensik are the other two singles ties on Monday.
