Serena Williams made her return to the US Open on Monday playing on Arthur Ashe court once more and her appearance was followed by many fans.
A record 29,402 fans showed up to watch her play against Danka Kovinic and she was able to win that match in straight sets. Many were impressed by the match including Chris Evert who admitted that she didn't see her play that well in years.
The number itself added to the 41,930 fans who were at the complex for day one setting the second-highest single-day attendance mark in US Open history of 71,332 people. The numbers will probably remain high as nobody wants to miss Williams and what might be her final match.
Next up is Anett Kontaveit, another brilliant matchup.
