Iga Swiatek kicked off her
Wimbledon campaign with a dominating first round victory, which led to Eurosport analyst
Mats Wilander labeling the Polish star as the favorite to lift the title in two weeks.
Swiatek dropped just four games in a commanding 6-1 6-3 victory over China's Lin Zhu, despite having to withdraw from Bad Homburg last Friday due to illness. The top seed will next face Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo, who defeated Martina Trevisan in the opening round.
Wilander believes Swiatek has developed a change in mindset
βShe is going to become one of the favorites to win this tournament over the years for sure,β said Wilander. βLast year she had the winning streak, got here and at some point you are going to lose. But this year she is looking good. Itβs about her mindset.
βHer mindset has to be Iβm coming in as one of the favorites, which is not easy to tell yourself you are. I wasnβt able to do that maybe one or two years in my eyes.
βBut those years were really fun. Sheβs one of the favorites and the courts donβt look as slippery this year and thatβs going to help Iga as well. She said it herself, she feels much more comfortable, she has four Slams. Watch out for her."
