Simona Halep will tie the knot two weeks before her 30th birthday in her hometown of Constanta Romania.
The 2x Grand Slam champion returned to her native Romania following her US Open defeated and confirmed the news upon arrival. Halep has spoken many times about her desire to get married and become a mother ultimately settling down from the hectic life of a tennis pro. A big step in that direction will be made next week when the 29-year old will tie the knot a mere two weeks before her 30th birthday.
The ceremony will take place in her native Constanta and will see Halep marry her fiancee, 42-year old Toni Iuruc, a Romanian businessman. The news first broke when former Romanian tennis great Illie Nastase said he was invidted to the ceremony by Halep. Upon arriving in Romanian she confirmed the news saying:
“Yes, we will get married next week. It’s a lovely event and I’m excited. It’s a different kind of excitement than winning a Grand Slam. It’s
my private life, while tennis is tennis."
