Simona Halep eases past Marketa Vondrousova to reach last eight in Stuttgart

World no. 3 Simona Halep is through to the quarter-final at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, beating Marketa Vondrousova 6-1, 6-3 in 56 minutes.

Halep lost the previous two matches against Vondrousova, but it was all about her today, dropping only eight points behind the initial shot and stealing half of the return points to deliver four breaks and control the scoreboard.

Simona found her A-game right from the start, serving well and breaking the Czech three times in a row for 6-1. Marketa stayed in touch in the second set's opening seven games, but it wasn't to be for her, dropping 12 of the last 15 points from 3-3 to push Simona over the top.
