Simona Halep had no issues against Siegemund defeating the German 6-2 6-4 to move at
Gippsland Trophy in Melbourne.
It was a good showing from Simona who has had her fair share of difficulty in beating Siegemund in the past. This time there were no issues and the Romanian player was happy after the match:
"I can say I'm happy. A little bit in the second set at the beginning I was with no energy, but then I stayed focused. I knew that she's gonna change the rhythm a lot. She did that, many drop shots, but I was ready for it. I feel like I played much better than the first round."
And it certainly looked that way as Halep's game was sharper in every segment. It's something she highlighted prior to the event and she is glad it's working so far. Her next opponent will Ekaterina Alexandrova and about that match Simona said:
"She's playing flat, as I remember well, flat and very deep. So it's gonna be tough to return the balls, but I have to play my game. I will focus on myself, as I do every time, and to believe, because it's a new match, a new day, and it's a good opportunity to win another match."
