Simona Halep complicated matters quite a bit in her match against Alexandrova in
Indian Wells but ultimately she prevailed 6-2 4-6 6-2.
The first set Halep played at the 2022 Indian Wells was a very good one as the Romanian player shined against Alexandrova who could not a find way to counter Halep. Simona covered the court extremely well and she hit winners exactly when she needed to. She finished it off with 6-2 sending the match into the second set.
The 2nd set was a proper battle between the players as both players had chances to take a break. Halep was very close several times to getting a break but Alexandrova was able to hold on. Eventually, she started playing much better and gained confidence. It paid off as Halep played an abysmal match at 5-4 for Alexandrova losing the game and the set.
It woke her up as she started to play much better in the 3rd set. Taking matters into her hands like in the first set, she attacked early in points and it proved crucial. Alexandrova was caught off guard and her play deteriorated with Halep taking a double lead break 5-1. She closed it off with 6-2.
