Simona Halep has not played since sustaining a lower leg injury prior to the Roland Garros forcing her to miss both that event and Wimbledon.
She worked really hard to be able to attend Wimbledon in order to try and defend her title from 2019 but the Romanian player was unable to recover in time to be able to play. Opting not to risk aggravating the injury she decided to skip everything till the North American tour.
Her official return will be at the National Bank Open in Montreal. The event is set to start on August 9 and run till August 15th. The news of her return was shared on the official Twitter profile of the event noting that Halep is happy to return to tennis especially to play in front of fans.
Halep did not offer any initial comment but shared the news on her own social media profiles with the caption 'Can't wait to be back'

Can’t wait to be back! @OBNmontreal 🙌
