Simona Halep has officially withdrawn from
Roland Garros due to an injury sustained at the Rome Masters.
Simona Halep retired from her match against Angelique Keber at the Masters in Rome and the injury now forced her to retire from the Roland Garros. The injury happened in a match where Halpe was cruising past Kerber winning the first set 6-3. She appeared to have issues with her calf and retired from the match upon the recommendation of the physio.
Later on, Halep confirmed the injury was a tear in her calf with the Romanian player headed to Romania for further tests and rehab. The initial prognosis seemed optimistc9 that she would be able to feature in Paris but now she has officially withdrawn.
It will be the first time Halep has missed Roland Garros since her debut in 2010. Halep won the event in 2018 after reaching the finals in 2014 and 2017 respectively. It's a huge blow for the French Open as well as for Halep who was considered one of the favourites heading into the event.
