Former Stockholm champion
Stefanos Tsitsipas survived a very close match against Maxime Cressy beating the American in two tiebreaks.
It was a proper indoor match between two very good servers who did not waver in their efforts to win the match. It lasted over two hours and we saw two tiebreaks with the second one being markedly better. The first set was played well by both but Tsitispas had some early issues that Cressy was able to exploit.
After taking a 3-2 lead, Cress was able to make it 4-2 hind some powerful serves. Not long after that, he would give away the break and it proved a huge problem for him later on as he really missed a huge chance with that break.
The tiebreak was a strange once as Tsitsipas jumped out to a 5-0 dominating completely. He then lost three poitns in a row giving Cressy some momentum but escaped 7-5. The second set was largely uneventful as neither player allowe da single break point and it was a rather comfortable cruise to the tiebreak.
The tiebreak itself made up for it because it was an epic one that gave us 26 points. Stefanos was up 4-2 and then down 4-5 and then up again. Cressy had three set points, Tsitsipas had five match points and the final enough finally clinched it for the Greek.
