Stephens and Townsend joke about effects of jet lag after landing at Madrid Open

Despite the Madrid Open being one of the more beloved events on tour, American tennis stars Sloane Stephens and Taylor Townsend do not seem too pleased to be in Madrid, as the pair joked about suffering jet leg after landing in the city.

Following their arrival in Madrid, Stephens and Townsend joked about requiring help to deal with 'very serious' jet lag.

"Jet lag very serious right now babes. Send help," Stephens posted.

Townsend also appeared to be a victim of the phenomenon experienced during the lengthy air trip.

"Jet lag got me man," she wrote in an Instagram story.

Townsend is currently competing in the qualifiers for the event, while Stephens will face Jaqueline Cristian in the first round of the tournament. The former World No.3 reached the semifinals of Madrid in 2019, where she was defeated by eventual champion Kiki Bertens.
