Elina Svitolina clinched her first win as a mother defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-2 on Wednesday on the ITF Tour in Chiasso, Switzerland.
Having entered Rome using her protected ranking, Svitolina sees her preparation well underway for the French Open starting next month.
She returned last week after the birth of her daughter Skai with husband and fellow tennis player, Gael Monfils but lost to Yulia Putintseva albeit with good signs in her return.
Planning to compete at further ITF tournaments before Rome, match practice will remain her top priority before Roland Garros.
