Lesia
Tsurenko retired from the match against
Iga Swiatek due to dizziness at the
2023
French Open.
Iga Swiatek
achieved her objective in another day at
Roland Garros. The Polish player
started with a strong performance, breaking
Lesia Tsurenko's serve three times,
although she also got broken once, resulting in a score of 5-1 in the first
set.
The
Ukrainian player withdrew from the match after experiencing a feeling of
dizziness, which prompted a pause in the game. Tsurenko received medical
attention when the score was 4-1 in favor of Swiatek, and although she
attempted to continue, she still didn't feel well.
After
losing another service game, Tsurenko approached the net and made the
definitive decision to retire from the tournament in the fourth round. The
world No. 1 advanced once again in a short amount of playing time, with only 29
minutes on the court.
In the
quarterfinals, there will be a rematch of the 2022 final as Swiatek faces young
Coco Gauff, who defeated Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in this round on Court
Philippe Chatrier.
