Iga Swiatek was holding her post-match press conference when she was asked about Aryna Sabalenka which brought the whole conference to a quick end.
Swiatek was asked about Sabalenka's decision to ask tournament organizers to hold a special type of press conference where only a select few reporters would be allowed in.
She was ultimately granted that after citing her mental health with the move a product of her previous conference which had a tense exchange.
The reporter in question was not permitted this time around and it's likely that Sabalenka will continue to do this in order to avoid being grilled on her supposed support for Belarus' president. Swiatek was asked about that and she started giving her response:
"I heard that she did not attend the conference, but I do not know what the reason was. I heard she didn't feel comfortable..."
She was interrupted by the moderator midway through which ended the press conference. Polish journalist shared the story on social media along with a comment from the WTA which said it was just a misunderstanding. Their response was:
"We apologize for the misunderstanding but there was a lack of Polish language comprehension and ended the press conference as we were simply out of time."
It seems like the moderator weren't able to tell what was being asked by the Polish media so they shut the whole thing down after recogniting Sabalenka's name in the question. Not a great look for the event.
