QUARTER-FINAL BOUND 👊 #RolandGarros @steftsitsipas
Stefanos Tsitsipas is in the Roland Garros (French Open) quater-final after another impressive win over Sebastian Ofner 7-5 6-3 6-0.
Exactly one week ago, we saw Stefanos Tsitsipsa take to the court to face Jiri Vesely in his Roland Garros opener. It was a tricky match for the Greek as the Czech player gave him some trouble though he escaped in four sets. Since then his level improved with every match and this one particularly was impressive.
Ofner isn't a player you'd expect in the 4th round of grand slams as he never played at the necessary level to achieve that. He did finally find that level this year scoring some impressive wins but a very long match against Fabio Fognini in the previous round proved a bit costly. He was doing well for the first set but faltered towards the end 5-7.
Tsitsipas easily established control in the second set breaking his opponent once for the 6-3 finish. By the end of the match, Ofner was running out of gas and Tsitsipas cruised to a bagel finish 6-0. It was a strong finish from the Greek who spent less than two hours on the court which is huge for him as his next matchup is against Carlos Alcaraz.
They played four times so far and Alcaraz won all four times including earlier this year in the Barcelona Open final on clay. It's going to be very hard for the Greke but playing like this certainly will give him a better chance. Being fully rested certainly won't harm either.
